Profile

Bergis is an archivist interested in developing solutions for building capacity and achieving sustainability in community-based cultural heritage organizations that focus on documenting the lives of marginalized people.

He is also passionate about incorporating ethics into how we collect and preserve digital content from the web and social media about people that are most vulnerable to harm in those spaces.

He is the Community Lead on the Documenting the Now project, which seeks to develop tools and practices that support the ethical collection, use, and access to web and social media archival content. Documenting the Now was started as a reaction to the protests and activism in Ferguson, MO sparked by the killing of Michael Brown in August 2014.
