Designing Sainbury's Make a Difference days with 150,000 employees

The Problem

Sainsbury’s’ five core Corporate Social Responsibility values were not widely understood by their 150,000 employees. Sainsbury’s wanted to increase awareness of these whilst encouraging active participation from as many people as possible.

The Solution

A national Colleague Engagement Programme asking for small, positive actions that could change the world. These were co-designed into Sainsbury’s monthly Make A Difference Days including an award-winning Recycle Your Phone Charger Initiative.

So far…

  • 150,000 colleagues involved across their 900 stores, depots and head office
  • 5,000 employees generated over 1,000 ideas
  • 60+ colleagues participated in co-creation day at Sainsbury’s HQ designing forthcoming Make A Difference Days
  • Phone recycling facilities provided to Sainsbury’s 19 million customers
